“STATEC’s slogan “Knowledge in action” describes exactly our ultimate goal. Statistics are not an end in themselves. They serve two functions:

Firstly, they must faithfully mirror the country’s economic and social situation.

Secondly, they must enable public and private decision-makers to take informed decisions.

The central service for statistics and economic studies must perform two tasks: on the one hand, it must compile, and on the other, study, analyse and process the data in order to understand the economic and social trends”.
