Lacklustre recovery in sight
Organizer: Statec  -  Date: 24-11-2009  -  Location: CES

One up

The international economic and financial environment has shown signs of improvement since the 2nd quarter, signs that strengthened in the 3rd quarter. STATEC has revised its growth forecast for 2010 for the Luxembourg economy, which is still set to remain well below its long-term average. Further, the forecasts for 2011 predict only a slight improvement in growth. This lacklustre expansion does not hold out much hope of a firm recovery in employment.

These are the main facts highlighted in Note de Conjoncture No. 2-2009, which STATEC has just published. Macro-economic forecasts, the international economic situation, recent developments in the main sectors of activity, inflation, wages, external economic relations, the labour market and public finances are dealt with in detail on this site. This Note also features several specific sections providing methodological analyses on topics such as the relationship between economic surveys and industry surveys, partial unemployment and job schemes.
